Security questions are an extra layer of protection that ensure that only you can access your bank accounts. These questions use information about your personal preferences and history, which is difficult to steal or duplicate, in order to prevent unauthorized account access and identity theft.

The Access Code is an added layer of security that is required for high risk transactions, like adding or editing payees for bill payments.

Registering your computer creates a link between your computer and your Scotia OnLine account. If you often access Scotia OnLine using the same computer, registering will make future access quicker and easier. Please only register computers that you use frequently and avoid registering public computers. You may have a maximum of three computers registered at one time.

The eGrid is a dynamic enhanced level of security you will use when performing certain transactions such as setting up Bill payments and Funds Transfers recipients.

When you select the "Remember my Card" option, your browser will create a small file called a "cookie". This cookie will store your card number (in encrypted format) and an optional nickname on your computer's hard drive. You will still be required to enter your password every time you want to sign-on.
In order to take advantage of this feature your browser settings must be set to "accept cookies". This feature is specific to the particular browser that you have installed on your computer.

If you use the "Remember my Card" feature, you also have the option to assign a "nickname" to your card (e.g., "Sam"). The nickname is a personalized description that will appear alongside your "masked" card number in a dropdown menu on the sign-on.

When you create your card nickname, it:

  • Must be maximum 8 characters in length

  • May contain alphanumeric characters only
